NEW!! Use Binoviewers with your Coronado!
The SolarMax 90 telescope is the largest H-A telescope ever to be mass-produced and is in use around the world from private observatories to professional research facilities. Noted for incredibly sharp, contrasty H-Alpha views, and stunning detail. Even when viewing with a single eyepiece the sun appears fully animated even revealing hints of curvature, this effect is enhanced when used with bino-viewers. The SolarMax 90 telescope is compatible with most imaging systems and amateur astronomers have produced images that rival those gathered by multi million dollar systems, just see the image gallery for proof. The SolarMax 90 telescope is available in several configurations.
The BF30 versions allow for straight through imaging and come with a Long Wave Pass mirror housed in a 1.25" diagonal. As the BF30 is internal the back end of the MaxScope 90 is 1.25" on both versions.
Comes with the following items, Clamshell mounting ring, Sol Ranger sun finder, Travel case, and full CEMAX eyepiece set.

An astronomy teachers best friend, the SolarMax 70 telescope has been designed as a sealed unit with no removable parts other than the eyepiece.
Combine this with it's 70mm aperture and you have a dedicated and portable H-Alpha telescope that is ideal for use by both the experienced observer and the most novice. As the SolarMax 70 telescope is sealed no critical parts can be removed and set up is a breeze even for school children. Coronado recommends that all solar viewing be done under adult supervision to ensure safe and effective results.
The SolarMax 70 telescope is in use at universities, high schools, middle schools, and their equivalents around the world. It is actually a version of our first dedicated H-Alpha telescope, Helios I, with technological improvements. All of the telescopes in this line (Helios I, NearStar, SolarMax series) feature a unique design with an etalon smaller than the actual aperture and positioned towards the rear of the OTA. This enables us to price the 70mm telescope less than the SolarMax 60 telescope. This design creates a bandpass of <0.8 angstroms which is slightly higher than the standard for other SolarMax series telescopes.

For those looking for more aperture we proudly present the SolarMax 60 dedicated H-alpha telescope. Built to our exacting standards the SolarMax 60 telescope provides the user a telescope with the same lightweight portability of our SolarMax 40 telescope but the extra aperture greatly increases the resolution of detail on the surface and on the limb. With over twice the surface area of the SolarMax 40 telescope the difference is obvious.
The SolarMax 60 telescope comes standard at <0.7 Angstroms with a BF10 and is available with an internal module to lower that to <0.5 Angstroms. A T-Max attached directly behind the etalon gives you the ability to adjust for Doppler shifted light. Bino-viewers and most imaging equipment will come to focus, sometimes with the use of a Barlow or OCS. The advantage of the extra aperture becomes clear each time you view. For more on the T-Max please go to accessories.
Included with every SolarMax 60 telescope are the travel case, 25mm CEMAX eyepiece, and clamshell mounting system.
Optional accessories include the Sol Ranger and additional CEMAX eyepieces.

The SolarMax 40 telescope has the same aperture as the P.S.T. but is distinguished by several key factors.
The SolarMax 40 telescope comes standard with a <0.7 angstrom bandpass which results in increased surface detail across the disk. A T-Max attached directly behind the etalon gives you the ability to adjust for Doppler shifted light. Bino-viewers and most imaging equipment will come to focus, sometimes with the use of a Barlow or OCS. These features plus enhanced surface detail make the SolarMax 40 telescope a more versatile instrument with remarkable solar images.
The SolarMax 40 telescope comes standard with a clamshell mounting ring and hard travel case.
Optional accessories include CEMAX series eyepieces and Sol Ranger sun finder.

The SolarMax 90 provides consistent and breathtaking H-Alpha views.
All SolarMax series filters are sold in sets.
Like the smaller 60mm filter the SolarMax 90 can be used on almost any telescope design under 3000mm focal length. However, the larger 90mm aperture increases resolution and allows for the user to view individual sections of solar activity at high magnification and when viewing at full disk the user gets the impression of curvature on the surface. The extra resolution will provide some stunning views; you haven't seen the sun until you have looked 'down' through a filament onto an active region.
The front mounted SolarMax and rear blocking filter. Almost all telescopes will require an adaptor plate in order to attach the SolarMax, these are available from Coronado or through your dealer. The SolarMax includes a T-Max de-tuning filter. Some events on the Sun,- notably active flares and coronal mass ejections (CME), are extremely fast moving. If such features occur on the disc of the Sun, their high velocity towards the observer results in their wavelength being Doppler shifted shorter than Ha.

The SolarMax 40 will provide full disk H-Alpha views when matched with the appropriate Blocking Filter.
All SolarMax series filters are sold in sets.
The SolarMax 40 was designed specifically for use on short fast refractors under 1000mm focal length. Coronado $100 Holiday rebate on the PST solar telescope
Through December 31, 2007, you'll get a $100 rebate check direct from Coronado when you buy the super H-alpha PST (Personal Solar Telescope). See Flares and prominences on and around from the surface of the Sun. Buy the PST solar scope, or the specially-priced PST and carrying case package, and Coronado will send you a check for $100.
Sub-angstrom Hydrogen Alpha systems have long cost to much. The Personal Solar Telescope (PST) is the latest innovation from Coronado. This 'little' telescope is another step toward our goal of making it possible for everyone to, "Experience the Sun"
The Coronado design eliminates temperature and F-Ratio requirements. Not only does the PST have a bandpass of less than 1.0 angstrom but it is also thermally stable and requires no more time to operate than putting in a eyepiece and adjusting the focus.
The PST represents the same technology and quality that goes into a SolarMax series telescope but with a few unique design characteristics that allow us to offer it for less than some premium eyepieces. The PST will show prominences, active regions, filaments, as well as other surface details. At <1.0 angstrom it will not reveal as much surface detail as the SolarMax series telescope and filters but it certainly doesn't disappoint.
The PST is made from machined Aluminum and comes with a built in Sol Ranger finder for easy alignment, a 12mm Kellner eyepiece, and a re-usable box with dye cut foam for safe storage. Optional accessories include a hard travel case, MALTA tabletop mount, CEMAX series eyepieces, and SolarMax 40 for double stacking and narrowing the bandpass. To add a SolarMax 40 you will require the T-Max 40 for attaching the unit directly to the PST.

Coronado Personal Solar Telescope CaK
Coronado P.S.T. CaK is a truly remarkable telescope linking two of our most recent technological breakthroughs. By combining the optical design of the price friendly P.S.T. with the Calcium K line filters of our SolarMax 70 CaK we are again making solar discovery a real and attainable aspect of Astronomy.
The unique CaK filter isolates a layer of the Sun that is below and slightly cooler than the layer viewed with a Coronado Hydrogen Alpha filter. The transmission line is centered at 393.4 nanometers and is isolated using thermally stable interference filters. Given that this telescope has a much smaller aperture than its bigger brother, the SolarMax 70 CaK, you can anticipate a drop in resolution but not in contrast, safety, or quality. The magnificent super granulation cells that gather and strengthen in this layer of the Chromosphere may not be visible to all as most humans eyes, through the process of aging, are not particularly sensitive to this wavelength. The primary purpose of any CaK instrument is for imaging.
Coronado does not guarantee the performance of any imaging equipment being used in a prime focus position. All equipment will work in an afocal setup using the appropriate adaptors. These are the same adaptors that you use at night and, at this time, are not offered by Coronado. If your current imaging equipment will not work at prime focus and can't be used in a afocal setup Coronado recommends the purchase of one of the Meade Electronic Eyepiece systems. The Deep Space Imager or the Lunar Planetary Imager. A computer is required to operate these. The P.S.T. CaK will work with the Malta Mount and features a built in finder scope.
